Effect of pacifiers on baby teeth

Persistent and long-term use of pacifiers, especially after permanent teeth appear, can cause the following:

-Roof of mouth too narrowed

-Mal alignment of upper and lower jaw

-Upper front teeth to slant out

-Lower teeth to tilt in

Advantages of pacifiers

-Pacifiers help to calm your baby

-Pacifiers offer temporary distraction. If your baby is hungry, a pacifier may comfort the baby for few minutes. Pacifiers also help to distract the baby during blood tests and other procedures.

-Pacifiers help to soothe a fussy baby

-Pacifiers can be disposed of easily

When the time comes to stop using a pacifier, you can throw it away.
