Youth Business St Vincent and the Grenadines Christmas Message 2012

Greetings,

As we approach the end of another year, let us take this opportunity to reflect and learn from the many challenges we faced during that time and as we look toward a future of much potential and possibility. Let us take a few moments to pause and acknowledge this time and the reason for this season: the birth of Jesus Christ and its significance. This is a simple but important reminder of what the Christmas season is all about. Apart from the fun and enjoyment, knowing the religious aspect of Christmas is equally important.{{more}}

There is a prevailing view that Christmas has lost its meaning, with its focus on materialism and commercialism. Let me say to you that as the season progresses, each of us in our own way can put the “Christ” back in Christmas. Let us strive this season to reflect and exemplify those qualities that Jesus Christ embodied: let compassion replace insensitivity; let love replace hate; let consideration replace inconsideration; let selflessness replace selfishness; let giving replace receiving!

May we this season show unity instead of division; let our strength be seen in family, community and country, as we navigate this difficult period, brought on by the prolonged global economic crisis. May we be sober in our reflection, that no matter how difficult it may seem, we take heart that it could be worse!

On behalf of myself and the members of staff at Youth Business St Vincent and the Grenadines (YBSVG), I take this opportunity to thank our partners, sponsor and donors, individuals who gave of their time and resources, who attended our events, and the general public for their unwavering support of our organization during this period. We look forward to serving you even more in the upcoming year.

We at YBSVG also take this opportunity to wish you a joyous holiday season, spent with friends and family. May the spirit of Christmas twinkle in your life during this time and beyond!

YBSVG is here to guide young entrepreneurs already in business and those with business ideas to ensure that their businesses remain competitive and sustainable. We believe that we can assist young entrepreneurs in this area. To this end, in early 2013, we will also be launching the Accelerating Young Entrepreneurs Program (AYEP). Under this program, anyone desirous of starting their own business will be provided with training and provided with start-up capital for business ventures along the lines of the training received. In addition, we will also be launching PROPEL, which targets young persons in agriculture (agri-preneurs). This program is open to all Vincentians between the ages of 18 and 35.

Interested persons can contact us at telephone number 457 2132 or check our Facebook page for further information. The team at YBSVG looks forward to working with you in 2013 as we continue our journey to uplift our young entrepreneurs, and to raise the level of independence among them. God bless you.
