Sagicor light shines on Darkie

Before ah forget ah want to Big Up Sagicor foh honouring one of our outstanding NATIONAL CULTURAL icon’ David ‘Darkie’ Williams. as a part of the Insurance Company’s 2021 contribution for National Heroes Day. Time does fly indeed and dis One-dah-full gesture by Sagicor, is timely and long awaited as de ever faithful, ever humble and committed “Darkie” has been toiling in de Cultural Vineyard for over 50 Years non-stop. His indelible contribution goes far and wide throughout SVG including Drama (the theatre community, lead Actor in NAM), Poet/Play-writer; Dancing, Drumming, Carnival (Mas costume builder, Panman), currently he’s President of de Garifuna Heritage Foundation of SVG. Stanley Browne, Sagicor’s General Manager in his address at de presentation said more dan ah mouthful and I quote: “All of us (de nay-shun) are inspired by David who continues to use every fibre of his being to ensure that our culture is not diminished in any way.” Thank yuh Sagicor and congrats Darkie.

SVG DRAMA SOCIETY

Talking bout Drama we in SVG neva out ah we Drama. As if de Den-gay was not enuff trouble, COVID 19, de real Whirl Boss came unwanted and uninvited only to confirm how wreck-lessly divided we are as ah small Nay-shun. And now de talking point is La Sew-Fray dat was grumbling plenty last year. Remember dat GO-Terminal Project of unpleasant memory terminated after drilling foh months. Interestingly de project was to be sited at de base of La-Sew-Fray. All dat de contractors left us is ah set ah holes maybe as souvenir. One ah de many questions asked, is why didn’t Go-venom-mint put dat money into ah Solar Project dat has been tested and proven ah tremendous successful in SVG.

DOH PANIC

So La-Sew-Frey quaking and rumbling but “Doh Panic!” Ah using former Prime Minister Cato’s words of comfort during de last erupt-shun. Now we must listen carefully to what de Scientists say, it is comforting to know dat our own Dr Richie Robertson is heading dat team. So listen and read between de words spoken by de Scientists. De very worse can happen and de only thing we can do in de meantime is to Pray. When we pray let our first and last line be :”Father and God spare us of any eruption of de La-Sew-Frey Volcano, Amen!”

Let’s revisit de Vaccination Calm-Pain. Dey’s no need to fight up wid anybody to tek de AstraZeneca vaccine. Ah look at de Statistics showing de number of vaccinated persons, country by country foh de region, and while SVG should be doing better, we not among de very worst, not among de best either. Whether or not someone tek de vaccine should not be ah talking point. Lie-Za say dey will be an unwritten Regulations dat will be referred to as “benefits of de AstraZeneca Vaccine” outlining things we shall do and places we shall go freely once yuh have ah slip ah paper saying yuh have been vaccinated. Fair enough; Lie-Za predicts dat very soon persons will be breaking dey neck to get vaccinated wid de same AstraZeneca vaccine dey Bad-Talking. Hopefully de vaccine will be available den.

Lie-Za keep saying if only dey was ah Nah-shun-all COVID 19 committee made up of people of substance who have an influence in society. “De Minister and his team of professionals from MCGH, retirees like Doctors Garraway, Providence, Dhatta, Kitty Israel, ah few representatives e.g. Dr Friday, Sir Louis, Hon Dan Cummings, Hon St Clear Leacock who was in charge of Operations La-Sew Fray Eruption 1979. Her-man Belmar, ah Rep from NEMO and Christian Council; ah PRO team headed by Senator Ballah, someone who is liked. Ah believe people would have had more confidence in de above team, and all de negative response and slow progress being made in de Calm Pain would ah bin avoided. Remember to men-shun La-Sew-Fray in yuh prayer. And wid dat is gone ah gone again.
One Love Bassy
