Countries buying oil, gas from Venezuelan to face 25% tariffs -President Trump
United States President, Donald Trump made an announcement that any country that purchases oil or gas from Venezuela will face a 25-percent on all their trade with the United States beginning on Tuesday, April 2.
In the post made via Truth Social on March 24, Trump claimed that Venezuela was responsible for sending thousands of high-level and other criminals, who were described as murders and ‘people of a very violent nature’. Among them, Trump identified the Tren de Aragua, a transnational criminal organisation from Venezuela–the country which the US government claimed has been very hostile recently.
As a response, Trum said a ’Secondary Tariff’ would be imposed on Venezuela, where countries that purchase any oil andor gas from Venezuela would have to pay a 25 percent tariff to the US on any trade it is involved in.
“ … Venezuela has been very hostile to the United States and the Freedoms which we espouse. Therefore, any Country that purchases Oil and/or Gas from Venezuela will be forced to pay a Tariff of 25% to the United States on any Trade they do with our Country. All documentation will be signed and registered, and the Tariff will take place on April 2nd, 2025 LIBERATION DAY IN AMERICA.” the post said, adding that the necessary agencies have already been notified.
