Call goes out for registration in 2025 National Home Garden Competition

The Rural Transformation Unit within the Ministry of Agriculture is preparing to stage its annual National Home Garden competition, and interested entrants have until March 31, 2025 to register.

The Rural Transformation Unit is again implementing the competition in collaboration with the Zero Hunger Trust Fund, and the general public is being encouraged to take part.

Homeowners can apply to participate in one of three categories: Crop; Livestock; or Mixed (crop and livestock).

This year’s competition was launched on February, 20, 2025 when the Rural Transformation Unit hosted the closing ceremony for the 2024 Home Garden competition.

The competition aims to sustain food production and contribute to national food and nutrition security, the Unit said in a release.

The monitoring and judging of the gardens will take place between April 2, to September 26, 2025.

Registration forms and guidelines are available online, and hard copies may also be provided from the Unit, at the Ministry of Agriculture, or from the office of the Zero Hunger Trust Fund, upstairs the NIS building, on request.
