Sol donates to SVG Medical Association through Parkland Pledge
Employees of Sol St Vincent have combined to provide support to the St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Medical Association under the Parkland Pledge, instituted by Parkland Fuel Corporation. The Corporation, based in Canada, is one of North America’ s fastest-growing independent marketers of fuel and petroleum products, and is the parent company of Sol EC Ltd.
Through its Parkland Pledge initiative, this programme allows Sol St Vincent employees annually to donate to a charity or institution of their choice, giving them the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in their communities. A release from Sol, states that three members of its staff, along with a recipient of support from the SVG Medical Association have teamed up to donate an undisclosed sum to the Association. The Medical Association of SVG is a non-profit organization established to have a greater voice for better health care in SVG, and is involved in raising awareness through such initiatives as campaigns with focus mainly on prostate and breast cancer. They also have an annual tug-o-war in September, and pink cap city walk and rally in October to raise funds for Breast Cancer. This year a bingo event to raise funds for prostate and breast cancer patients will also be held.
Many Vincentians have benefitted from their support over the years, the release from Sol also notes. “As someone who has lost family and friends to both breast and prostate cancer, and as a recipient of this funding, this Association is very meaningful to Lucinda as they played a pivotal role in aiding her treatment,” the release states as well. Jhavique McIntosh, Nicholai Lewis and Frederick Kerr of Sol EC Ltd. along with Lucinda have therefore pledged in solidarity to the SVG Medical Association in keeping with the intent of the Parkland Pledge.
