Police Corporal to be accorded full military funeral
The police have said that Corporal 118 Vanley Bruce who lost his life in a motor vehicle accident on Sunday, May 26, 2024, will be accorded a full military funeral. The officer, who was attached to the port, died “as a result of multiple trauma due to the motor vehicle accident and cardiac tamponade,” a release from the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF) states. Google indicates that Cardiac tamponade is also known as pericardial tamponade- which is a compression of the heart due to pericardial effusion (the build up of pericardial fluid in the sac around the heart).
The statement of the cause of death came as a result of the post mortem examination performed on the deceased on Monday May 27, 2024. The police said around 9:56 a.m they received information about a vehicle accident in Hopewell involving Corporal Bruce. Preliminary reports indicate that his motor vehicle went over a bridge on the Hopewell Public Road and ended up in a river. The incident occurred while Corporal Bruce was on his way home. The police say they are investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident which led to the death of the police officer whom they describe as a dedicated member of the police force who served with honour and distinction. The RSVGPF in its release, has extended “heartfelt condolences to the widow, children, friends, and colleagues of Corporal Bruce during this difficult time”.
