Hoteliers, NEMO conclude disaster preparedness workshop

Members of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Hotel and Tourism Association (SVGHTA), this week concluded their yearly hurricane preparedness workshop. However, rather than an in-house facilitator, the Association said they requested the assistance of the National Emergency Management Organisation (NEMO), whose Director, Michelle facilitated the May 28, 2024, event held at the conference room of the Sunset Shores Hotel. In a release, the SVGHTA said the workshop went beyond hurricane preparedness, and addressed other areas of disaster management.

The 19 participants “left ‘on a high’ armed with critical information and guidance on managing disasters”, the release stated, noting that topics addressed also included hurricane, volcanic eruptions, and earthquake preparedness and management.

They anticipate this NEMO facilitated workshop will become an annual feature on the Association’s training calendar.
