PSU to elect new executive soon
Members of the Public Service Union (PSU) will be electing a new executive next month to run the affairs of the union over the 2024-2026 biennium.
The elections will be held over a two-day period, April 23-24, 2024, a release from the union states.
Nominations close today, Friday April 5, and voting will take place at the various work places where the PSU is recognised as the bargaining agent for the employees.
The release refers to chairman of the nominations committee, Harvey Farrell, as saying that this is the third election that will be conducted at the workplace since a resolution was passed at the 75th AGM of the union on September 19, 2018, thus replacing the traditional voting system of having the election as part of the AGM. He added that the crafters of the resolution envisioned wider participation in the election and a deepening of the democratic process, and he is appealing to members to honour the crafters of the resolution. They can do this, he said, by becoming more actively involved in the affairs of the union, and one way of doing so is for members to get involved in the upcoming election process.
