SVG Association of Winnipeg donates to St Benedict Day Nursery
A monetary gift of $1,500.00 from the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Association of Winnipeg Inc. (SVGAWPG) was presented by Dr Miriam Sheridan on behalf of the St. Benedict Day Nursery as part of the association’s annual assistance programme to the island.
The presentation took place on January 3, 2024 from representatives of the Winnipeg based organization. In attendance were president Margaret Lewis-John and outreach coordinator John Jack.
Dr. Sheridan expressed gratitude for the contribution and extended best wishes to the executive and members of the SVGAWPG.
This is not the first contribution by the association to the island. In December 2023, a donation of essential food and hygiene items was made to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Red Cross, Kingstown Adult Group to assist with their Christmas basket distribution to evacuees of the La Soufriere eruption at Macedonia Shelter and shut in residents in the Leeward and Windward sections of the island. Previously, the SVGAWPG presented fans to all clinics on the island; donated to school feeding
programmes; sponsored several sporting groups; presented books to the library and have assisted with many disasters on the island be it hurricanes or volcanic eruptions.
President, Margaret Lewis-John used the opportunity to express appreciation to the SVGAWPG executive and members who made these initiatives possible. Their continued commitment to community welfare and to contribute to several projects since their establishment in 1976 exemplifies their love and dedication to the Vincentian community even though not physically present, St Vincent and the Grenadines is still home.
The other members of the executive are: Angela Cupid, Arlene Green, Charles Henry, DeCris Providence and Dennis Cupid (SVGAWPG).
