North Leeward students benefit from back-to-school drive
Over 100 students in the North Leeward constituency were the recipients of schools supplies in preparation for the 2023/2024 school term.
Over the past weekend, member of Parliament for North Leeward Carlos James, coordinated the distribution of school bags and essential supplies to children within his constituency. Each student received school bags containing exercise books and stationery.
A team collaborating with the constituency representative expressed the importance of this effort, noting that the support was targeted to vulnerable families who had a difficulty sending their children back to school.
“We are supporting families with the necessary tools by ensuring that no child is left behind. This programme will ensure they all have an equal opportunity towards a productive learning experience,” James said.
According to parent Shandella Williams, the support in assisting the students to return to school could not have come at a better time.
“We know what is taking place globally, prices went up, and I am grateful to our MP Carlos James and everyone who assisted in providing for our children.
Sometimes we take these things for granted, but I want to express thanks to our MP for assisting our students,” the Rose Hall resident said.
The back-to-school initiative is an annual programme supporting vulnerable families throughout North Leeward.
