African or Caribbean inspired fashion encouraged for Africa-Caribbean dress day
Residents of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) are being encouraged to wear African or Caribbean inspired fashion on Thursday, September 7 in celebration of Africa-Caribbean dress day.
The Ministry of Tourism and Culture and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will host an Afro-Caribbean Cultural event beginning at 11:00 a.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m. at the Old Treasury Building Site.
A release from the Agency for Public Information (API) said the event aims to raise awareness and celebrate the relationship between Africa and CARICOM and to spread unity across Continents and Oceans.
The release said the event highlights would feature Art and Craft displays and a cultural showcase.
“Africa-CARICOM Day is a significant milestone in recognition of our historical and cultural ties between Africa and the Caribbean, as we provide a platform to celebrate our shared heritage, reflect on the challenges we’ve overcome and explore the opportunities for mutual growth and cooperation,” the release said.
