Six advance to final round of Lions Club St. Vincent South Public Speaking competition
The finalists of the Lions Club St. Vincent South/ Flow Secondary Schools Public Speaking competition have officially been announced.
The six students came out of a pool of nine who participated in the zonal preliminary round of debates on October 4 to 6.
The finalists are:
* Kondolesha Browne -Georgetown Secondary School
* Fayth English – St. Vincent Girls High School
* Derissa James – Union Island Secondary School
* Oscar Browne – St. Martin’s Secondary School
* Elrose Millington – Thomas Saunders Secondary School
* Andre Bowman – Mountain View Adventist Academy
The final is slated for Tuesday, October 25, at the Methodist Church Hall at 7 pm. Students will speak on the topic, “Governance systems around the world were challenged in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. Many governments bundled the economic, health and civil liberties response”.
The finalists and their teachers will meet with representatives of the Lions Club South at Frenches House at 3 pm on Friday October 7.
The Lions Club St. Vincent South has been hosting the competition since 1999 and it returns this year after an absence in 2021. In 2020, the competition was won by the St. Vincent Girls High School who was represented by Marika Baptiste.
