Transport Board, stakeholders to discuss proposed hike in bus fares

The Transport Board is expected to meet today, Friday August 12, with representatives of the mini bus and taxi associations to finalize details for proposed dare increases from the associations.

This was stated by Minister of Transport Montgomery Daniel, as he spoke on NBC radio on Wednesday August 10.

This matter has been pending for several months, after the associations wrote the the Ministry of Transport on the matter of increased fares.

Minister Daniel said he had summoned the Transport Board to meet with the representatives.

That meeting has taken place and certain recommendations were made.

Minister Daniel had also requested justification for the proposed increases.

On Wednesday, he said that the justification request was adhered to.

The matter is now before the Transport Board and today’s meeting is expected to point the way forward. Today’s decisions will be taken to Cabinet.
