Five ‘vaccinated only’ events approved for Sept 4 – 7 weekend

Three cruises to the Grenadines are among the vaccinated only events that have received approval from the Ministry of Health to take place over this long weekend.

During an address ahead of the four-day weekend which runs from Saturday, September 4 to Tuesday, September 7, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves encouraged Vincentians to remain at home as far as possible in order to reduce and contain the spread of the virus that causes Covid19.

He however said approval has been given for five events or activities to be held during the September 4 to 7 weekend.

The prime minister noted that everyone attending these events are vaccinated individuals and protocols, procedures and mechanisms will be in place.

The events are (i) a catamaran cruise to the Tobago Cays on Sunday, September 5 put on by Incognito Entertainment with host Mohandus Bobby Martin; (ii) a catamaran cruise to the Tobago Cays on Sunday, September 5 hosted by Joel Bascombe; (iii) An event called “Grid” on Monday September 6 hosted by Andre Harry (iv) an annual cruise to the Tobago Cays on Monday, September 6 hosted by Edmond Jackson and (v) “War Games” on Monday, September 6 hosted by Keyon Constance.

The Prime Minister said the Ministry of Health will implement measures to ensure that the agreed upon protocols are maintained.

“We rely to some extend on the integrity of the organizers, but we can’t do that fully. You have to double check and this why the Ministry of Health will be involved in these.”

He said this weekend, no approval has been given for any wedding to exceed the recommended capacity.

He encouraged persons who are not yet vaccinated to take the vaccine.

The Police also issued a notice today, September 4 saying over the weekend, they intend to conduct patrols to ensure that Covid19 protocols are maintained.
