Educators complete neurodiversity training

EDUCATION STAKEHOLDERS including Special Education teachers and Education Officers, have received training in Teaching for Neurodiversity: Building Inclusive Teaching and Learning Classrooms.

The one-week online course which ran form July 19 -23 2021 exposed the educators to Inclusive and Culturally Responsive Pedagogy and Practice, Supporting Neurodiverse Learners with Autism, ADHD and Dyslexia as well as Universal Design for Learning.

Approximately 80 participants completed the course which was a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Education, the Authentic Caribbean Foundation and training provider, Lesley University of Boston, USA.

Neurodiversity is a viewpoint that brain differences are normal, rather than deficits and it’s concept has benefits for children with learning and thinking differences
