Venezuelan Embassy to celebrate Independence event on Friday

THE EMBASSY of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela has shifted its activity to mark the Declaration of Independence of Venezuela to Friday, July 9 commencing at 4:30 p.m. at the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Sugar Mill Road, Ratho Mill.

The Embassy said in a release that the postponement of the event, originally slated for July 5, was due to reasons beyond its control.

On July 5,1811, Venezuela became the first nation to gain independence from Spanish rule, when representatives from seven provinces of the country united to end the Spanish monarchy, and subsequently signed the Act of the

Declaration of Independence of Venezuela.

The focal activity will be the launch of the digital photographic exhibition ‘Route of Emancipation’ by Vincentian artist, Nadia Huggins.

The ceremony to be staged outdoors,will be “in accordance with the Covid-19 bio-security protocols”.
