VINCENTIANS ARE ASKED to be alert in areas prone to flash flooding or near rivers and streams as a tropical wave affecting St Vincent and the Grenadines presently could linger near the island chain tomorrow and Thursday.

This is according to an update posted by the SVG Meteorological Office on Facebook yesterday.

“An approaching tropical wave could bring increased cloudiness towards Tuesday afternoon; with light rain, pockets of moderate showers and isolated thunderstorms expected across SVG during the night,” the update said.

This is the second time in the last few days that SVG is being been affected by a weather system.

And due to the already saturated nature of soils and vulnerability in some areas, the Met office is urging “residents and motorists… to remain alert/ exercise caution as models continue to suggest the possibility of moderate to heavy showers accompanied by occasional thunderstorm activity”.

The Meteorological Services will continue to monitor the progress of this wave and issue necessary alerts/updates.
