UNICOMER announces OECS jingle
Unicomer, OECS, announced the winners of its OECS, ‘We Are All Essential’ Jingle Competition. The winners of the competition hailed from the islands of Dominica, St. Lucia and St. Vincent [and the Grenadines].
The competition, supported by Unicomer OECS Social Media Influencer and 5 time St. Lucian Groovy Soca Monarch, Arthur Allain, was a part of the Company’s ‘We Are All Essential’ campaign. The Campaign was developed in support of the broader public health program to reduce the spread of COVID-19. The competition required participants to craft a 30 second jingle encouraging persons to play their part in the fight against COVID-19, by practising healthy habits and being socially responsible.
Ja’del Demacque, a Grade 6 student of the Dame Pearlette Louisy Primary School from St. Lucia, won the student category of the competition. “Thank you so much Unicomer for recognising my talent. I’m so happy, I can’t believe I won,” Ja’del said excitedly. In the adult category, Amayah George from Dominica, Joiya Charles from St. Lucia and Tyrique Thomas from St. Vincent emerged winners. The winners in the adult category each received EC$2,500 and the student EC$1,500.
The judging panel consisted of Unicomer team members and lead judge Arthur Allain. Arthur remarked, “It was intriguing to be on the opposite end of the judge’s pen. It was clear during the process that some persons put a lot of effort into their submissions, they really went all out and the vocals and melody on the jingles were very impressive. I was amazed by what I saw coming from participants and hope to see some of them follow through to develop their talents.”
Video submissions of the winning jingle submissions have been uploaded to @courtsstlucia on Facebook and Instagram.
