SVG Mission of Seventh Day Adventists suspends meetings
The St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) Mission of Seventh Day Adventists has suspended all corporate worship and other scheduled meetings in member congregations effective April 6 and until further notice.
The release from Dermoth Baptiste, president of the Mission said the decision was taken consequent to the rapidly evolving situation in relation to COVID-19.
“This decision allows for all worshippers to stringently follow the advice of Ministry of Health Officials to practice safe Physical distancing and avoid being in close proximity or contact with one another. We further advice and encourage all members and the general population to take greater responsibility for their individual and family’s health, wellness and safety.”
“…Let us do our best to cooperate with Health and Public Authorities, look out for one another and be our neighbor’s keeper. In times like these, it becomes so easy for us to be driven by panic, fear, anxiety, rumors or hysteria. To the contrary, I counsel us to be guided by the Spirit of the Lord, good common sense, updated medical science and public policies pronouncements,” the release said.
As of Sabbath, April 11, Sabbath School, Divine Service and Adventist Youth meetings will be streamed live from the Mt Moriah SDA Church commencing at 10:00 am and 4:30 pm respectively.
There will also be a live broadcast on NBC Radio 705 from 10:30 am to 12:00 noon.
On Sabbath, April 11 the church will also launch “a “Prayer Wave” as we pray at 7:00 am on mornings and 7:00 pm on evenings, 7 days per week, until something happens.”
The focus of prayer will be to cover the people who are affected by the virus; the health authorities; the leaders of the nation and policy makers; for this season of stress, distress and uncertainty to pass quickly; and for the will of God to overrule in all our plans and for Heaven’s agenda to take precedence over personal agenda.
“Let us not be daunted at this time with feelings of insecurity, powerlessness and self-doubt. Rather let’s trust our lives and our future in the hands of our loving, caring Savior who promises to shelter us as a hen covers her chicks under her wings. Let us focus more on God, read our Bibles and like the sons of Issachar understand the times to which we have come, listen to inspirational music, pray earnestly for Divine intervention and establish deeper relationship with our Creator. Corona does not have the final say; God does! Let us choose faith over fear, prayer over panic, assurance over anxiety and hope over hopelessness,” the release said.
