SVGCC Division of Teacher Education to celebrate its 55th anniversary
The Division of Teacher Education of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College, formerly the St Vincent Teachers’ College, will celebrate its 55th anniversary on October 28, 2019.
The celebrations to mark this milestone achievement will commence with a service of thanksgiving at the Kingstown Methodist Church on Monday September 23 at 9 a.m. The Rev. Adolf Davis will deliver the sermon. Past students are invited to celebrate with the Dean, staff and students of the Division of Teacher Education.
On September 27, 2019 beginning at 9:30 a.m, there will be an Open Day at the Villa campus of the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Community College.
Then on October 3, the Students’ Council will host a panel discussion at the SVGCC’s Villa campus. The session will take place from 1-2 p.m under the title “A Conversation with Pre-service Teachers” the topic for discussion will be “Professional Experiences: Qualities, Questions and Considerations.” The panellists will be final year students in the Primary Teacher Education programme and two immediate past students from the secondary group in the Associate Degree Programme (ADE).
Dr Reynold Murray will be our keynote speaker on October 17, when a special lecture will be hosted at the Villa Campus.
Dr Murray will deliver the lecture in relation to the theme of the celebrations: ‘Learning from the Past, Celebrating the Moment, Shaping the Future’. The lecture begins at 6:30 pm. The Dean, staff and students of the Division of Teacher Education invite past students and the general public to celebrate with them this milestone in teacher education in St Vincent and the Grenadines.
