Youlou Art Program 2019 held at three locations
This Year’s Art Program began on Monday July 22 at three locations: The Youlou Art Centre Indian Bay, Spring Village and Georgetown.
The theme for the program was ‘From the Sea Part’ where the main focus was on coral. Indeed the children attending this program had fun learning about this topic and why it is important to the environment. The children also learned poems and songs about coral.
In the art aspect, they made their own book, puppets and a large coral reef.
The Youlou Art Centre at Indian Bay also offered a textile workshop, where the teens learned the art of decorating with fabric. They learned basic sewing and embroidery stitches, how to applique and tie dying.
On Friday, August 2, there will be a showcase of the children’s work at Guides Hut in Kingstown.
Both Programs were a success and we are looking forward for next year’s program and the continued support from the public.
The Youlou Art Centre offers a Saturday morning art program for children called Hello Art from 10am-12pm, and classes will start in September and you can contact the centre at 457-4493.
