800 students to receive cash awards Thursday
More than 800 students who sat the 2018 examinations for CSEC, CAPE and Associate Degrees will be awarded $500 for their performance.
A release from the Ministry of Education said that recipients should come to collect their award this Thursday at the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College Villa campus at 9 a.m.
Five hundred and fifty-seven students who sat CSEC, 228 who sat CAPE and 102 students who pursued Associate degrees will receive the monetary award.
Of the recipients who gained Associate Degrees and will receive this award, nine from the Division of Arts, Sciences and General Studies, 51 from the Division of Technical and Vocational Education and 42 from the Division of Teacher Education.
Students are required to bring proof of identification bearing a photograph.
To be eligible for the award, CSEC students must have gained five passes with Grades I to III including Mathematics and English A.
CAPE students must have gained passes with Grades I to V in at least two two-Unit subjects as well as in the single Unit Communication Studies or Caribbean Studies in two consecutive years.
Students in the various Associate Degree programmes must have gained at least a B-average.
The release said that the initiative is “the fulfillment of an obligation to reward all students whose performance meets established standards of excellence”.
