Finalists in the 2017 Secondary Schools Public Speaking Competition named
Six students have been selected to participate in the 2017 Finals of the Lions Club South / FLOW National Secondary Schools Public Speaking Competition.
In a release issued Saturday, President of the Lions Club South Junior Bacchus said Jozelle Henry of the Bishopâs College Kingstown, Zoe Porter of the St. Vincent Girlsâ High School, Jaykwarn Donald-Payne of the St. Vincent Grammar School, Alejandro Tesorero of the St. Josephâs Convent Marriaqua, Reyann Williams of the Mountain View Adventist Academy and Joel Ross of the St Martinâs Secondary School will participate in the finals scheduled for Wednesday, October, 25, 2017 at the Kingstown Methodist Church Hall.
There will be three presentations from each student which includes a main speech on the topic: âThe Emergence of Donald Trump politically, has fueled a frightening set of extremism in the USA and to come extent across the Globe,â a student prepared speech of their choice for five minutes and the impromptu for not more than two minutes.
This yearâs competition is sponsored by FLOW and the students will be vying for the Lion Michael DeFreitas Challenge Trophy. Rhea Ollivierre of the St. Vincent Girlsâ High School is the defending champion.
The release from the Lions Club South said the six Finalists and their teachers must attend a briefing at the Computec Conference Room in Kingstown on Monday, October 9, at 3:00 pm.
