Residents of South Windward to benefit from business skills seminar offered by CED
Residents of the constituency of South Windward who are engaged in business operations or aspiring to do so are being given an opportunity to hone their business management skills through a one-week workshop organized by the Centre for Enterprise Development Inc. (CED).
The CED will roll out its training calendar for the year, starting with a Community Programme for Entrepreneurship (CPED) seminar at the Stubbs Government School, March 20-28, under the theme “The Gateway for Economic Developmentâ.
According to CEDâs Training and Education Coordinator, Keisha Phillips, the decision was taken to bring the CPED programme to the South Windward constituency following a needs assessment conducted by CED last year, and the upcoming seminar will cater for 30 residents.
“CPED was initially developed to empower rural communities in St Vincent and the Grenadines to generate wealth by equipping residents with the necessary knowledge and skills to start and operate successful enterprises in their communities. Based on our interaction and discussions with residents of the area we found that the community has a felt need for business management training. In addition, the Argyle International Airport was recently opened in that constituency â thus providing unique opportunities for business in the surrounding communities due to their proximity. We believe that programs like CPED and other training are will facilitate the communityâs access to these entrepreneurial opportunities.â
The seminar will provide participants with the necessary information that would be required before engaging in a business activity and help them plan to successfully operate and manage their businesses.
The CPED seminar is scheduled to take place from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. daily. Interested persons can contact the CED to register at 451-2235 or 451-2236, Extension 30.
Meanwhile, CED has announced that registration is also opened for upcoming seminars in Financial Management Module I: Recordkeeping â April 3-7 and Events Planning and Management â April 24-25.
