Benefits to a woman of having a big butt

Benefits to a woman of having a big butt

A lady with normal weight for her height visited my office with a unique request. She requested my medical guidance with regard to reducing the size of her 50-inch butt.

My patient noted that since her teenage years, she was incessantly teased about her butt’s size.

As a result, since then, she was extremely conscious about its size. She was also convinced that her big butt egged on unsolicited sexual advances from both sexes. She hated her big butt.

I used the encounter to counsel her about the many biopsychosocial advantages of having a big butt. Referencing research, I tried to convince her why she needed to celebrate and embrace her attribute, as opposed to detesting such.

General information regarding the butt:

  • The butt has a plethora of synonyms. These include but are not limited to behind, bottom, ass, arse, buttocks, booty, derrière, bamsee, backside, bum, glutes, posterior, gluteus maximus, tail, hindquarters, the medical terms callipygian and steatopygia.
  • What constitutes a big butt is extremely subjective. An internationally recognized metric regards women having a butt of 49 inches (122.5cm) or more as having a big butt.
  • Genetics and circulating blood oestrogen play an integral role in determining the default size of a woman’s butt.
  • Because of higher blood oestrogen levels, generally, women have larger butts than men
  • There are three muscles making up the left and right glutes, respectively – gluteus maximus (biggest and strongest muscle in the body), gluteus medius, and gluteus minimus.
  • A layer of gluteofemoral fat overlies the glutes.
  • The crevice between the butt cheeks is known as the intergluteal cleft or the gluteal cleft.
  • Colloquially it is called the butt crack.
  • Reasons for a small or flat buttock include genetics, age, lack of exercise, low oestrogen blood levels, and other factors.
  • If you are not born with it, squats, lunges, uphill running along with other exercises can increase the size of your glutes. These exercises are most effective in persons who are on a healthy diet. Such exercises, once done consistently, can start adding inches to the butt within 6-8 weeks.
  • Female butts are generally less hairy than males.
  • The most common reasons for pain in the butt are muscle injury and nerve compression.
  • The butt’s shape can be described as round, square, heart, or V-shaped.
  • Prolonged sitting can lead to atrophy (shrinkage) of the glutes, butt pain, and tightening of the hip flexors. This is referred to as the dormant butt syndrome.
  • Twerking improves hip flexibility and the strength of the thigh muscles.
  • Sitting in the same spot for an extended period can result in numbness in one or both butt cheeks.
  • Bacterial skin infections are the most common reason for boils on the butt.

The health advantages that are associated with a big butt:

  • A 2008 study showed that women with bigger butts outperformed women with comparatively small butts on academic tests. Scientists believe that bigger butts augment neurodevelopment.
  • Having larger and stronger glutes translates into better balance, posture, stability of the upper body, and mobility. Ultimately lowering the risk of falls.
  • The stronger the glutes the faster the resolution of lower back pain.
  • Those with bigger butts generally outlive those with smaller butts. Harvard researchers have theorized that this is one of the reasons why women generally outlive men.
  • The fat in the butt is often referred to as “protective fat”. A study published in the International Journal of Obesity revealed that women with such fat are less predisposed to developing type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
  • Evolutionary psychologists have postulated that big butts make women more attractive to men by enhancing the curvature of their spine.
  • The extra fat stored in the butt reduces the frequency and intensity of hunger pangs
  • Women with big butts generally tend to be more mobile during pregnancy. The big butt offsets the frontal accumulation of additional weight caused by a growing fetus. This culminates in an easier delivery.
  • An Oxford University study suggests that women with above-average-size butts produce smarter children
  • Bigger butts are protect the hamstring muscles from injury during strenuous workouts.
  • A big butt serves as a built-in cushion for not only sitting on hard surfaces, it also acts as a shock absorber when falling on your butt.

In closing, I’ll share the opening lyrics of Born With It (the de facto anthem of West Indian women with big butts) – sung by one of my favorite female soca artists – Allison Hinds

My great great grandmother pass it down
My great grandmother pass it down
My mother get it from my granny
And mommy give it to me
Cause we was born wit it
Born wit it
West Indian girls was born with it

Big butts help make the world a healthier world, one big butt at a time.
