The Cell Phone, a tool for crime fighting and prevention

Editor: A mobile phone, or cell phone, is a portable telephone that allows users to make and receive calls over a radio frequency link while moving within a designated telephone service area. The mobile phone also supports text messaging, multimedia messaging, email, internet access, digital photography, video recording, radio and television streaming, navigation and payment solutions.

The cell phone is such a useful tool. Why then is there a reluctance to deploy it fully in our security force? We could only speculate that more crime will be reported causing a rise in our official crime statistics. But it will mean a rise in our crime solving and prevention capabilities.

Basking in our ignorance is of benefit to no one. Our aim is a safer society and the cell phone must be allowed to play its role in these modern times.
