Ear, body piercing a sign of slavery
EDITOR: Ear piercing and the wearing of rings on the ears and different parts of the body are very popular, not just here in SVG, but worldwide.
Ear piercing and wearing of earrings especially by men is a sign of being a slave to your master as found in Exodus 21: 1 – 30. The master would buy these slaves for a period of time and then would let them go. However, there were many of them who chose not to go and would rather remain and serve their masters, so they would then pierce their ears and wear earrings as a sign that they are owned by their masters and so would remain as slaves.
It was a choice made to serve their masters as slaves, and this would include the entire family as slaves.
It is unfortunate that many persons pierce their ears and different parts of their bodies, including the males as maybe just a style.
But I wonder if those who do so know the real history behind these things. So, while, many would pierce their ears and different parts of their bodies and wear earrings and think that it is cool, it is sign of ownership to the slave masters.
Sometimes for many men the wearing of earrings has meanings. It is sometimes a sign that they are gay and for others it may be just a fashion done out of lack of knowledge. Either way it is acknowledgement that they are owned by either a slave master, or a sign that they are gay.
So while we make an issue of slavery and are referring to persons as slave masters, we by piercing and wearing of earrings and other rings on different parts of our body are in fact slaves.
It is my hope that while many would disagree with what I wrote that there would be those who seriously think about what I wrote, do your own research and make an independent choice, not based on peer pressure but based on knowledge, and that we would come to the place of knowing who we are and not follow blindly other persons.
May we always research and think before we make decisions and also we may make informed decisions that are not influenced by another one.
