Running the last mile home

Editor: For many they are running their last mile home. The frequency of death in the Caribbean and beyond due to several reasons including hurricanes and other natural disaster is but a reminder that life is uncertain. We can be here today and gone tomorrow. The guns, weapons and other sicknesses have claimed lives of so many people, that in some areas and countries there is fear prevailing.

We cannot in most cases prevent sicknesses and diseases. Thus, the need to prepare since for many they are running their last mile home. The question is: “Are we prepared for death?”

Since we don’t know when we are going to die, it means that we ought to be conscious of the fact that we are running our last mile home. The question that needs to be asked is are we prepared to meet GOD. We in this country live as if we are our our own boss and do not live for Christ.

Preparation for death that may occur from disaster or any other form requires our total commitment to Christ. It is time that we as Vincentians turn our lives to Christ, repent of our sins and live for him. We need to stop the backbiting, the pulling down and live in love. We need to return to the days of sending our children to Sunday School, having our children develop a fear for God and most importantly as adult we lead by examples.

May God continue to bless us all? God bless SVG.
