Would you scratch a stranger’s crotch?
Editor: Would you scratch a strangerâs crotch? Would you pick somebody elseâs nose? You probably have done that and worse without knowing. Germs and residue from activities are usually found on peopleâs skin and left behind on anything they touch.{{more}} So anytime people pick their nose or a sore, dig out their ears or teeth, scratch their head or armpit and handle their crotch without washing their hands properly afterward, they then spread what is on their hands to everything else they touch.
While most persons are conscious of how nasty a public bathroom is and take necessary precautions, here are ten other nasty things that may not have crossed your mind.
1. The clothes you try on in a store – Itâs not like they wash them after each trial, and doesnât the stocking provided for trying shoes collect germs?
2. The door handle for any business place – Just how many people do you think touch the door handle at a popular restaurant in one day?
3. The seats on a van – The cleanest seat is probably the driverâs, but we canât sit there, can we?
4. The chained pen on the counter – Very popular in banks (I carry my own pen).
5. Money – Whose bra, shoe, gutter, and friendly vagrantâs hand did that dollar pass through?
6. A Library book – Especially the ones that look like theyâve been through a war.
7. An ATM keypad – Count the people on the line in front you at payday.
8. Handles of a shopping cart or basket – You see how fast they change hands especially at the end of the month? Have you EVER seen the supermarket people washing those things?
9. The railing of a staircase – They tell you to hold on for safety.
10. The seats in a hospital – I try not to touch anything and take very small breaths whenever I visit that place.
So the next time you touch any of these things, ask yourself: âWho all handled this before me?â and then break out the sanitizer and scrub, scrub, scrub.
