A candid response to a series of anti vaccines-related religious commentaries on We-FM

Part 1:

Editor: Recently on Ernesto Cooke’s WE FM call-in programme, I began highlighting aspects of a religious commentary carried on We FM on Sunday, 28 February, associating the World Health Organization (WHO) with having a murderous, ethnic cleansing agenda, that the WHO has a history of doing wickedness and criminal activity with vaccines; also, associating the WHO of conniving with pharmaceutical companies, mainstream media, and international bankers to deceive the world’s population, through the use of vaccines, to fulfill that agenda. Their aim, according to the speaker, is to reduce the world’s population down from 5-6 billion down to 500 million. That programme was under the auspices of the “Independent Thusia Seventh Day Adventist Church”!{{more}}

Now clearly if the speaker is sincerely ignorant of the substantive facts he should shut up, and don’t exercise what he believes to be his “freedom to speak”, since in speaking authoritatively on public media, on such an important public health issue, one in which he is obviously misguided, he can be endangering the live and livelihood of every Vincentian.

Given the content of the commentaries, some may say he is being “conscientiously silly”. Can anyone seriously believe that the WHO told all health care workers to violate their Hippocratic oath? Or that they have ordered doctors to cause grave harm to healthy people by injecting every healthy person on earth with the H1N1 virus! “Yo lie!Nyron!” They have received no such order. This “broadcaster” seems so naïve on the subject that he refers to two well known pharmaceutical products: Tamiflu and Calpol as vaccines.

Tamiflu – is Oseltamivir. It is produced by Roach Pharmaceuticals as a capsule or suspension. It is an antiviral medication used to treat flu symptoms caused by influenza virus.

Calpol is a brand of children’s medicine sold mainly in the UK, Ireland, India, Cyprus, China and the Philippines. The main product is a paracetamol. Please tell me how can someone who doesn’t seem to know the difference between tablet and a vaccine make out himself as an expert on the immune response system?!.

The fever associated with the H1N1 Viral infection, he explains, if managed, is enough for the body’s immune system to fight off the virus. Then a simple question “Mr. Immulogist”: Why have over 16 thousand people died in this H1N1 2009 pandemic? And why did up to 100 million die of H1N1 in the 1918 Pandemic (the Spanish flu)? Did they all take “dangerous vaccines”? Didn’t they all have the natural response to infections a fever?!

Contrary to the opinions expressed by the representative of the Thusia SDA Church, the activities of the WHO are carded towards the protection & promotion of good health and the socioeconomic well being of humanity.

THE STRUCTURE OF THE WHO:

The World Health Assembly is the supreme decision-making body for WHO. It meets each year in May in Geneva, and is attended by delegations from all 193 Member States. The Executive Board is composed of 34 members, technically qualified in the field of health. Members are elected for three-year terms.

More than 8,000 people from more than 150 countries work for the Organization in 147 country offices, six regional offices, and at the headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland. The Pan American Health Organization represents the “Americas Region”.

How can any reasonable man or woman assume that such a universal and democratically structured organization would be able to connive with pharmaceutical companies, international bankers, mainstream media and other to execute a and cover up a murderous agenda over a prolong period?

Responsibility

The WHO is the directing and coordinating authority for health within the United Nations system. It is responsible for providing leadership on global health matters, shaping the health research agenda, setting norms and standards, articulating evidence-based policy options, providing technical support to countries and monitoring and assessing health trends. The WHO’s objective, as set out in its Constitution, is the attainment by all peoples of the highest possible level of health. The Constitution defines health as a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.

The WHO has a six point agenda which ise spelt out on their website home page. These are (1)-promoting development, (2)fostering health security, (3)strengthening health systems, (4) harnessing research information and evidence, (5) Enhancing partnerships,( 6) improving performance.

Vaccines and immunization programs are considered some of the greatest accomplishments of the 20th century. Without them, millions more will be dying or be incapacitated by vaccine preventable disease like polio, measles, mumps, tetanus, whooping cough to name a few. Poor health anchors large populations in poverty. Access to life-saving or health-promoting interventions from vaccines should not be denied for unfair reasons or religious arrogance.

Can Vincentians imagine what will happen if we were to stop taking vaccines and loose Herd immunity for any of the mentioned disease conditions? Answer in Part 11 to follow.

Tyrone Jack is a Senior Pharmacist who works at the Ministry of Health as the Drug Inspector.
