Listen to the teachers

Editor: Proverbs 22: 15 states that “Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child, but the rod of correction (discipline) drives it far from him.”

Therefore, it is important that a child at school and at home be disciplined with the rod. {{more}}

It can be argued that there are different forms of discipline such as good communication in showing the child where he/she has gone wrong: lines, detention, just to name a few. Yet, we would have to agree that there are some children who definitely will need to be disciplined with the rod.

Failure to discipline unruly or ill-disciplined children with the rod will create an unruly school, and by extension, a society of disobedient children. It will create within the children’s mind an attitude of “I can do anything and no one can lash me”.

I would like to remind the authorities that, should they make the new Education Act a law without the changes recommended by the SVGTU, then we are creating a chaotic society. Importantly, be reminded that you never take teachers for granted. They have brought down several governments, the last being the NDP. Therefore, listen to the teachers and grant them their amendments, or else, face the consequences.
