Sister Pat – A wonderful lady

Editor: I used to work as a technical assistant in the European Development Fund unit in the Ministry of Finance and well remember a visit by Sister Pat, looking for funding for a Science laboratory at Marriaqua School, as long ago as 1998.

She made a big impression on us at the time, and looked absolutely crest fallen when we gave her the bad news that unfortunately we did not have a mechanism whereby we could help her with her project.{{more}}

A few weeks later we got a call from a British supplier of laboratory equipment, whom she had successfully persuaded to visit St. Vincent to help her research, with details on prices for all the equipment she would need.

I honestly believe that the construction of a science laboratory at Marriaqua School would be a more than fitting tribute to that wonderful lady. I do hope the Government and people of St. Vincent would find a way to make it a reality.
