Condoms in prison – deception exposed

Editor: Over the last few years, contributors to several local newspapers have written on the issue of whether or not condoms should be issued to prisoners incarcerated at Her Majesty’s Prisons in Kingstown.

Most of these writers agreed that condoms should be issued for health reasons. These beliefs are underpinned by a wicked deception that must be exposed. {{more}}

Should condoms be issued by the authorities to prisoners, we would be unwittingly giving rise to the great evil of homosexuality and therefore to the wrath of God. Should condoms be issued to prisoners, we would be saying to our youths and populace that certain behaviours are acceptable once the necessary health protection is taken.

The issue of homosexuality is one of great spiritual warfare since it openly contravenes God’s pattern for the sexual fulfillment and procreation of the human race. In Genesis 2: 21 – 23, God created Eve for Adam, establishing the divine pattern that a man and a woman together would fulfill His purpose in the earth.

God hates homosexuality and calls it an abomination (Leviticus 18:22).

In the Old Testament same sex relationships were punishable by death. (Deuteronomy 23:17). However, Israel contravened God’s instructions later on to the extent that they adapted the sinful practices of the surrounding nations. Several Kings of Israel who did what was right in the Lord’s eyes would remove the sodomites from the land (1 Kings 15: 12; 22: 46). Israel had also become so outrageous that at one time they even put altars to their idols in the house of the Lord.

Meantime, the sodomites even had houses next to the house of the Lord, showing their contempt for the true worship of God (2 Kings 23:7). This is reminiscent of the Anglican Church in America which has ordained a practicing homosexual, and shows the depth of depravity to which a people can reach when they are blinded to the truth.

God clearly revealed His disapproval and wrath against this unnatural lifestyle when He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah by fire and brimstone. The sin of these two cities was very grievous to God and went up to heaven as a great cry (Genesis 18: 20). Ten righteous people could not even be found in the city. Genesis 19 describes the reproach of the city and shameless behaviour of the inhabitants in their desire to fulfill their lust. In Romans 1, the Apostle Paul revealed that this behaviour stems from people’s refusal to acknowledge God as the creator. Romans 1: 27 says that “men, leaving the natural use of women, burned in their lust toward one another, men with men working that which is unseemly…”, God’s wrath will be revealed. Even the animals and other species mate with those of the opposite sex.

The cry of the nation is coming up to God. The cry of the innocent is going up to heaven.

Righteousness exalts a nation but sin brings a reproach to any people. Let us not bring a reproach and curse upon the land by condoning a grievous sin.

It is high time for us as a nation to arise out of our sleep and give no further room to this sin. Let the church arise and begin to cry out publicly against this sin and deal with it and other issues related to it before it is too late.
