House of Hope seeking Volunteers

EDITOR: I am a volunteer at the House of Hope. The House of Hope is in the process of opening a hospice for the people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines who are sick and dying.

A hospice is an organization of people who are devoted to caring for the dying, and also to care for the quality of life until death. {{more}}It is not only for the physical care but also the emotional and spiritual support that is needed. It puts the patients at the centre and enables them to control their own life and care.

Hospice care means caring for the whole person. This could include personal care, emotional support, respite care, child care, spiritual support, nutrition programme, bereavement support or medical supplies, etc., etc. Thus the need for volunteers.

However, until the hospice is opened, we need volunteers now to work on the education committee, fundraising or thriftshop. Should you know anyone who would be interested please call us at 485-6885 or drop by to see us at the Yellow Corner Café on Higginson Street.
