Retract labelling of my brother!

Editor: In response to our previous conversation, regarding my brother Chreston Cuffy whose name was misspelt in your article, and also your reference to him as “Monkey”, we would like to have that misspelling corrected and a retraction of the labelling of him as “Monkey”.{{more}}

This name is as a result of a societal stigma, due to his developmental disability. My brother and our family are deeply hurt as a result of this stereotype, especially under these circumstances. We will be looking forward to some feedback in your next issue.

Thank you for your co-operation in this matter.

•Editors Note: We do apologize to the relatives of Chreston Cuffy, the victim of a recent shooting in the Fountain neighbourhood, for the misspelling of his name and for the inclusion of that nickname. We assure the relatives that we in no way intended to continue the stigmatization of Chreston, who may have suffered enough due to his disability.
