Today we say goodbye to Cheiftain Burke â born May 11, 1958 and called home to glory September 13, 2007.
He was the son of Shelia Parsons and the late George Richardson.
Chieftain was born in St. Vincent and migrated to New York on May 11, 1981. Before migrating to the US, he attended the Byera Hill Anglican School and continued his High School education at St. Martinâs Secondary School. Upon completion of his high school education, he became an educator and taught at the Byera Hill Anglican School and Sandy Bay Elementary School. Chieftain was an activist, or as he calls himself, a âSocial Scientistâ who fought for the right of the common people. Chieftain obtained his degree as an Economist from Baruch College.
Surviving are his mother Shelia Parsons, Ruth Pilgrim his fiancé, children Omar and Rosalie Pilgrim; brothers, Michael James and Ken-e Williams; sisters Marva Parsons Charles, Innica Humphrey, Arlene Crosby, Dawn Richardson, Annie Richardson, Kataisee Richardson. Uncle Enos James; Noel Cooke, Elmore Cooke; Randolph Cooke and Charles Cooke. Aunts – Vernette Burke Ceasar; Marcella Shallow and Erica Cooke Tannis. Also a host of nephews, nieces, relatives and friends.
Chieftain will be greatly missed by his family and friends. We will always love you.
