Tribute to Bro. Calvert Woods
“Born to amuse, to inspire, to delight
Here one day, gone one night
Like a rainbow, fading in the twinkling of an eye
Gone too soon.”
Calvert made his final exit on Thursday last after performing several successful roles on the stage. We at SVGTU are extremely saddened by his passing but are taking comfort from having been associated with such an outstanding individual.
Calvert served at the highest level of the Union and was the 1st Vice President. He was instrumental in the negotiating and signing of the second Collective Agreement between the Government of SVG and the Union. He was never one to-toe-the-line, but worked according to his conscience. He was strong willed and had a firm disposition and he always stood up for what he believed in.
The teaching profession has lost one of its finest sons, the nation a dedicated patriot and SVGTU one of its stalwarts.
The entire teaching profession and the National Executive and staff of SVGTU along with the member units of the Caribbean Union of Teachers’ extend sincere and heartfelt condolences to Calvert’s family and relatives.
Farewell Brother Calvert, we will continue the struggle as you will want us to.
May you rest in peace.
