Jax rebounding into digital after December fire
Four months after a fire on Higginson Street caused huge financial loses to Jax Enterprises, the retail store is showing resilience with the launch of their Exclusively Vincy Loyalty Club digital card.
Jax Enterprises, considered one of the leading locally owned retail businesses in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), received a blow to their operations on Friday, December 20, 2024, when a fire destroyed 50% of the stock in their Higginson Street warehouse, while the remaining stock sustained water damage from the fire-fighting effort.
However, the retailer has not let that event hold them back, and has now moved into the digital frontier and is offering savings through its Exclusively Vincy Loyalty Club digital card.
Explaining how the card works, Jax’s Samellia Young said interested persons have to first go to the store and sign up for the card; persons have to be 18 years or older to sign up.
“It’s a simple process. It doesn’t take more than five minutes, and once we are finished creating your card, we send it back to you on WhatsApp, because, as I’ve mentioned, it’s a digital card,” Young said.
“Technology has improved over the years, so we are doing the cards digitally as persons tend to lose cards. If you lose the digital card, we will just resend your card to you. It’s that easy.”
Director of Marketing for Jax Enterprises Ltd. Shevrell “Candyman” McMillian, said the card offers instant savings.
He said it is just phase one of the digital push on which Jax Enterprises has embarked.
“Within the next two or so months, we will move into phase two,” which will allow persons to shop from anywhere and on-line.
“You pay for what you want online. You can choose to pay online. You can choose to pay in person. You can get your Exclusively Vincy discounts right away, and you just pick up, seamless and smooth,” McMillan said.
“Exclusively Vincy is the future of shopping in St Vincent and the Grenadines. It is here now, and it is being rolled out at Jax Enterprises.”
Last December’s fire was a major financial blow for the enterprise, and was predicted to put a dent in Jax’s future expansion plans, but despite these challenges, the business did not consider laying off staff.
