‘Mouldy admin buildings’ force MOE employees off the job

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Public Service Union (PSU) has instructed the workers at the main administrative buildings within the Ministry of Education and National Reconciliation not to occupy the building in which they work.

This decision was taken after the Union met with the workers recently to address health related issues which they say is caused by mold infestation and other hazards in the building which they occupy. The Union has deemed the building not conducive for work and today, Tuesday, April 22, 2025, workers gathered in the courtyard of the Ministry of Education’s Halifax Street headquarters to protest the conditions

In a statement, the Union said this decision will stand until assurances can be given for the health and safety of their members.

The SVGPSU is expected to meet with the Permanent Secretary to address the issue.
