More collaboration expected between CDC and Private Promoters for Vincymas
The 2025 Carnival season can see a greater degree of collaboration between the Carnival Development Corporation (CDC) and promoters of private events.
Minister of Culture, Carlos James, at a Vincymas press conference on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, stressed the importance of collaboration between private event promoters and the CDC, suggesting for example, using the same wristbands from a private event to enter a CDC event.
“It’s not a competition; it’s a collaboration. When I leave a private promoter’s event, I can take that wristband and go into the park where there is a Vincymas/CDC-organised event. We cooperate and we share that platform and the space that is available … it can be done,” said Minister James.
At the CDC-organised press conference, Kevin Robinson, promoter of Amgine Events, told SEARCHLIGHT that he and other promoters were trying to implement something similar to the Minister’s proposal.
He acknowledged that the CDC is the entity that promotes Vincymas as a whole and sees no issue partnering with them.
“That collaboration would definitely lead to big things for Vincymas. Integrating and getting a piece of the culture is the key thing why people fly come here,” said Robinson.
In his presentation at the press conference, James noted that during his visits to these private parties, the majority of the audience were either visitors, or returning nationals.
He added that the Tourism Authority and the CDC have to work closely to ensure that returning nationals and visitors get a full taste of Vincymas.
“So why not put a Vincymas or CDC or Tourism Authority booth in some of these private events?” James asked. “Give away round-trip tickets for 2026. Work with some of our destination partners— the airlines [to] facilitate that.”
