Former Principal Nursing Officer in SVG makes presentation at Singapore Nursing Research Conference
Former Principal Nursing Officer in the Ministry of Health of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG),was a presenter at the Fifth Edition of the Singapore Nursing Research Conference, and the Fourth International Public Health Conference, which took place from March 24-26, 2025.
Dr Gittens, also a former Permanent Secretary, who is currently a lecturer at the University of Technology, Jamaica, College of Health Sciences, Caribbean School of Nursing, was invited to be a presenter at the conference; she indicated that she was the only Caribbean presenter at the forum. The presentation was from her research paper “Integration of Artificial Intelligence in Midwifery Care: A Systematic Review”. Her presentation focused on the potential applications and benefits of integrating artificial intelligence in midwifery care.It highlighted findings from systematic reviews and met-analysis of recent literature on the subject.
The conference was conducted in the hybrid mode, with both in-person and virtual sessions, and provided an excellent platform for the exchange of knowledge in the fields of midwifery, nursing, health care innovations, and public health.
Gittens told SEARCHLIGHT that since the presentation, both the Journal of Nursing Care, and the Journal of Clinical Reports and Case Studies, have requested a full-length manuscript of her presentation for potential publication.
“This presents an exciting opportunity to disseminate the findings of the research and further contribute to the advancement of knowledge in this emerging field of AI in midwifery practice,” she said.
