SVG to welcome another international air carrier

Direct flights out of Atlanta, Georgia, USA will soon begin in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) as yet another major airline has placed this country on its itinerary as a premier tourism destination.

This information was shared with the public on radio by Prime Minister Dr. Ralph Gonsalves.

“Atlanta is the busiest airport in the United States, it is the hub in the south… it means that now we have international carriers out of London, out of Toronto. We have out of Charlotte, we have three airlines out of New York. We are having out of Miami and, shortly, we are having out of Atlanta.”

The Prime Minister said the tourism sector’s recent success indicates the transformative impact of the Argyle International Airport. Hotels have increased capacity, with the current room stock reaching 1,000.

He also said the management of Myah’s Suites announced that they will undergo expansion, adding an additional 28 rooms to their establishment.

“He (Mcdowall) said the drawings are being finalized and he will be starting shortly with the expansion, I’m told Holiday Inn is booked out, in fact, overbooked for carnival,” Gonsalves said. SVG experienced a 25.6% growth in stay over arrivals in 2024, compared with 2023, according to figures from the Ministry of Tourism. For the first time stay over visitors topped 100,000. (API)
