Teen placed on curfew until his 18th birthday over supermarket theft

A 16 year old male was ordered to be indoors between 7:00 p.m and 6:00 a.m everyday until his 18th birthday; spend four hours every Saturday at the nearest police station for one year; pay compensation; and was bonded for stealing six bottles of Hennessy among other items, from Massy Stores Supermarket.

The teenager, who was placed on remand for two days, reappeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Tammika McKenzie on Thursday, March, 6, 2025 where he was sentenced for stealing two of bottles of Hennessy valued EC$341.00; one Supligen van milk valued EC$17.60; one Massy chocolate cake valued EC$8.95; one pack of Bourbon biscuits valued EC$0.70; and one pack of Digestive biscuits valued EC$1.62,a total value EC$369.87, the property of Massy Supermarket, Arnos Vale on February 24, 2025.

The young man was also sentenced for stealing four bottles of Hennessy brandy valued at EC$682.00 on two different occasions, on February 6, 2025 the property of Massy Supermarket, Arnos Vale.

At about 5:50 p.m on the date in question the security guard was at work at the supermarket when she noticed that the teenager was at the liquor department along with two unknown people.

Using the camera, the security guard observed the 16 year old picking up two bottles of Hennessy and placing them in the back pack of one of the unknown persons. He then left the supermarket without paying for the bottles.
