Bruce-Lee charged with chopping wife, faces trial in June

A man who resides in Akers, and is accused of chopping his wife in the back, landing her in hospital, will face trial on June 25, 2025. Bruce-Lee Murray, who is alleged to have chopped his wife in the middle of her back, is free on bail in the sum of $5,000

Murray appeared at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court before Senior Magistrate, Tammika Mckenzie on March, 6, 2025, where he pleaded not guilty that on March 4, 2024, at Kingstown, he did unlawfully and maliciously wound Rossel Murray of Akers.

Prosecutor, Devon Bute objected to bail for Murray. He told the court that Bruce-lee and Rossel are husband and wife, and Rossel was still in the hospital. He said that she sustained a cutlass chop wound to the middle of her back and was still under observation. Prosecutor Bute said that she was sometimes unresponsive.

He added that the case file is incomplete, and the prosecution has already obtained three statements, but is looking to obtain two more from witnesses for the file. Murray, who was trying to intervene after the prosecutor objected to his bail, said that he has three children aged nine, 13 and 18 years, and would like to ensure that they go to school as he is the only person in the family who is employed. The Senior Magistrate remanded Murray in custody and adjourned the matter to March, 7, for bail review.

When Murray reappeared in court, his wife was reportedly in a stable condition and he was granted bail in the sum of $5,000 with one surety.

His trial is set to begin on June 25, 2025.
