Paul Over man fined for breaking bench over man’s back over $5
A Paul Over man, who was accused of breaking a bench over another man’s back when he did not get back the $5 he was owed, was fined $1000 for wounding.
Chad Layne, 30, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Senior Magistrate, Colin John on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, where he was charged that on February 19, 2025 at Kingstown he unlawfully and maliciously wounded Stephen Primus, 59, of Frenches.
When Layne was asked to plea, he told the court, “It’s my fault, so I go say guilty.”
The facts are that Primus knows Layne of Paul Over very well. They both frequent Paul’s Avenue, Kingstown. At about 8:15 pm on the date in question Primus was in Paul’s Avenue when Layne saw him and asked for the EC$5, which Primus owed him.
Primus informed Layne that he did not have any money at the moment and stated, “It’s a f#*!g small scene”. Primus noticed Layne picking up a bench from the roadside and paid him no mind.
