Men plead guilty in separate drugs charges

Two men who appeared at the Serious Offences Court this week, pleaded guilty on separate drugs trafficking charges and were sentenced to fines. The Police said in a release that Kyle Lewis, a 26 year old fisherman from Union Island was arrested and charged with possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply to another; and drug trafficking.

Lewis was found on the main Kingstown Wharf with 1,503 grammes of cannabis on February, 25, 2025.

He appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, and pleaded guilty to the charges.

For the drug trafficking charge, Lewis was fined EC$400; and for the possession of control drugs he was fined EC$250. Both fines are to be paid in one month. If he defaults, Lewis will spend one month at His Majesty’s Prison.

The other drugs charge involved Johnathon Williams, a 29 year old Trinidadian fisherman .

The Police said he was arrested at the main port in capital, Kingstown and charged with possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply; and drug trafficking. The Police investigations revealed that Williams was found with 1,648 grammes of cannabis.

He appeared before the Serious Offences Court on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, and pleaded guilty to the charges. For the drug trafficking charge, Williams was fined EC$400; and on the charge of possession of controlled drugs, he was fined EC$300. Both fines were ordered paid within one month, in default of which Williams will spend three months at His Majesty’s Prison.
