ULP Continues Candidate Selection this weekend

She is being referred to in the Unity Labour Party (ULP) as ‘amazing Grace’. On Sunday afternoon, February 23, 2025 the ULP caravan will roll into Sandy Bay where delegates of the North Windward branch of the party are expected to endorse Dr Grace Walters as their candidate to contest the upcoming general elections. Walters has already received the endorsement of current representative, Montgomery Daniel, who had publicly stated over a year ago that he was bowing out of elective politics. The North Windward Constituency is one of a handful of seats for which the ULP has to name new candidates. Last Saturday, February 15, 2025, at the Retreat Community Centre at Vermont, the ULP South Leeward Constituency Council gave the nod to Grenville Williams to be their standard bearer in the general elections. Williams had withdrawn his hat from the ring in that constituency in 2010, paving the way for Jomo Thomas to run for the constituency on a ULP ticket. The party, which has been in governance since March, 2001, is seeking a sixth straight term in office. The ULP’s candidate selection exercise for North Windward will take place at the Sandy Bay Secondary School. Walters, once endorsed, will contest against Shevern John who was unsuccessful in the 2020 polls against Montgomery Daniel.
