Classes at SBSS temporarily halted due to electrical fire

An electrical fire at the Sandy Bay Secondary School on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 appeared to have been quickly brought under control. Information about the fire was made public via a video which started circulating on the social media app Facebook, that showed flames and smoke coming from an electrical Distribution box in a classroom. The post was accompanied by a caption which read, “Happening rite now at sandy bay sec #electrical fire”.

This was one of two videos uploaded on Wednesday, about the fire.

Both videos were then deleted by the uploader, who then made a post stating, “It’s under control for now, no one was harmed thank God, so school resumes tomorrow [at] 8:15 sharp but ends promptly at 12 noon.”

The school’s Deputy Principal on Thursday, said she was not in a position to comment on the matter.
