Tourism Minister: SVG Sailing Week, more than just a regatta
The Ministry of Tourism, on February 3, 2025, officially launched the 2025 Sailing Week in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) The launch which took place on at the Bequia Plantation Hotel, is a revival of the Bequia Regatta and Easterval activities, and will be held from April 13-21, 2025.
Speaking at Monday’s official launch, Minister of Tourism and Culture, Carlos
James spoke about the lull in Easter activities in the Grenadines due the COVID pandemic and other challenges. Acknowledging that “the people of Bequia deserve a successful Easter Regatta,” the minister explained that Sailing Week will also involve the southern Grenadines islands of Mayreau, Canaouan, and Union Island.
“We have to safeguard this tradition and ensure that the young boys and girls in Bequia especially, have something to hold onto, that is traditionally and uniquely theirs.
Tourism officials said the event will feature two dynamic race series.
